Pond cheating for Trout! Creek fishing for trout is often considered an art that requires a natural instinct, a focused mind, precise equipment, and finesse skills. It also demands strong physical energy and stamina to wade in remote areas. However, lacking all these qualities, I opted for a more relaxing approach by going to a local fishing farm! Today, I was able to convince some close family members and friends to join me for a fishing trip. We hadn't had a family outing in a long time, so it seemed like the perfect opportunity before school starts. We packed snacks, prepared our fishing gear, and loaded our favorite drinks and lawn chairs into the car. The place we visited was a family-owned fishing farm where we could keep and bring home our own catches. The best part was that we didn't even need a fishing license to fish there. The pond was filled with an abundance of fish, and there were no catch limits. We only had to pay for the fish we caught. This was truly a paradise for fishing beginners, as some people in our group had never caught a fish before! As the most experienced angler in our group, I not only had to teach the younger ones how to use a reel and rod and cast properly but also remind them about safety measures near the water. I emphasized keeping a distance from the shoreline and avoiding swinging when people were behind them. Additionally, I advised against using bare hands to handle fish. The owner of the fishing farm informed us that the fish there loved eating worms, which happened to be the only bait provided. Most of the fish were located far from the shore because they knew there would be lots of activities such as picnics and children running around making noise. To reach the school of fish circling in the middle of the pond, I had to cast with great force. Initially, I tried moving my worm slightly to attract the fish's attention, but about 50 fish passed by without even glancing at my bait. It was incredibly frustrating! However, a staff member approached us and suggested that instead of targeting the fish swimming on the surface, we should set our bait closer to the bottom of the pond where the fish were actively feeding. Following their advice, I adjusted the depth accordingly, and soon enough, I started getting bites and hooked several fish! Fighting the fish in this farm pond was incredibly enjoyable. We caught fish one by one and became more efficient with each catch. However, there was another family next to us who had been there since we arrived but hadn't caught any fish. Curious about their luck, I approached them and discovered they were using completely wrong gear: an oversized bobber as big as an apple, thick fishing line meant for catching tuna, and a hook large enough for a Senko worm. I explained to them that trout are very intelligent and can see fishing lines. Without hesitation, I took the lead and helped them change their gear to a 6lb line and a small hook with trout bobbers. Within a few casts, one of the boys from the family started getting bites. He skillfully set the hook, and a big fish was on! The entire family erupted in shouts and cheers for the boy's success. When he maneuvered the fish closer to shore, his father used a large net to secure it. The father couldn't thank me enough and even gave me the oversized bobber as a souvenir. Overall, we had an incredibly fun day. My friends and my family caught a dozen fish in total. Although the fish turned out to be a bit pricey at checkout, we cherished the excitement of battling with the fish and experiencing those heart-pounding moments when our bobbers went down and we set our hooks. Reeling in the fish provided an exhilarating rush of adrenaline. Moreover, these fish looked healthy and delicious, ensuring that we would have a fantastic feast. We will definitely be returning!
