They are pretty active that time. Caught 2 in less than 30 mins. Then went home.

Started off with about 20 inches of dropper tippet snd got no customers. Lengthened that out to 30 inches and caught four big beautiful stocked rainbows in short order. Always good to change your depth or presentation before you start changing flies. That stupid simple pheasant tail got blown up but went down a hero

There are a few lakes that I’m always checking on my weather app. One of them is Diamond (aka Bosler), because it’s usually very windy. It literally sits in the middle of a massive wind power farm. When I saw the rare low-wind forecast I was skeptical, but decided it was worth a shot. Sure enough, as I drove down the dirt road from I-80 and the windmills came into view, none of them were moving. It was the glassiest day I’ve had on that lake. The bite was tough. For once, it was actually calm enough to jig with sonar. I dropped all kinds of lures down and was able to get their attention and get some bites, but they just weren’t taking it (I actually wish I’d brought some live worms, based on this behavior). So I ended up mostly trolling to cover water, but it’s also a tough lake to troll due to the massive aquatic grass. I caught four small cutthroats. Then finally… a wide-girthed football of a rainbow! And as the sun set, I finished with the catch of a nice-sized cutthroat; the prettiest fish of the day.
