Finally!! Got my first Millstream Farm, butter Brown Trout 🎣🇿🇦after a year of catching nothing but energetic Rainbows, I got smashed by this moody golden slab of controlled aggression, definitely my favorite fight ever! From the slow, almost non-existent take mid cast reset, to the 5 min battle of just refusing to give in. Special thanks to David who came running in at blistering speed to net this bad boy up 🤣 trackstar

First catch of the day 🇿🇦🎣

Another early morning fly fishing session with fly guide David from Millstream farm 🇿🇦 waters were boiling with rises as we observed a hatch of super fast yet tiny beetle-like insects surfacing before disappearing again. The bow chases and extravagant jumps prompted David to suggest that I change my thin x5 tippet to a stronger stiffer x2 tippet. I thank my lucky stars for having David's invaluable knowledge, for just as I casted out the x2 tippet with foam hopper, I got smashed by the meanest rainbow in the feeding frenzy. Within seconds it ran my retrieved slack fly line all the way down, the reel whining sharply as he refused lead on. After a 2 min fight he slacks down for just a few seconds for me to start retrieving before smashing ahead in a new attempt to get free. David excitedly guides me to secure this energetic beast. After 4 mins I finally won the battle in securing this 51cm, 1,7kg raging rainbow trout! Once again thanks for your special guidance David 🇿🇦 it was an absolute pleasure to learn from you and to study and develop new methods of fly fishing on the farm (from 5am) with you!

Smashing 6 Rainbow Trout in under an hour with fly guide David from Millstream farm. The first 4 was within 23mins of starting. At one point we decided to skip the pictures and just take full advantage of the feeding frenzy 🤙🏻🎣🏆 absolutely amazing fights from the biggest of the day ending at 2.5kg all safely released to fight another day
