Recent Catches At Marita Payne Pond

On Sunday morning, my son had a swim lesson. After dropping him off, instead of watching him swim—something I knew he excelled at—I decided to head to a nearby pond to try my hand at fishing. From my previous visits, I had noticed that there were some carp living in the pond, so this time I came prepared. I knew I had exactly one hour to spend before my son's class would be over. For the first 50 minutes, it was eerily quiet—there wasn’t a single bite. Just as I was starting to accept that I might get skunked, my bobber suddenly plunged beneath the surface, and I felt a strong tug on my line! It must have been a big fish that took my bait. My adrenaline surged as I reeled it in, revealing an impressive nearly 5-pound carp. It was huge! Glancing at my watch, I realized I still had two minutes left. I quickly packed up my gear and headed back to the swimming pool, just in time to see my son finishing his shower. What a wonderfully productive use of time!
