Crappie weather today, very windy. Lost a huge carp that snapped my 4 pound line. Was very fun fighting it on my ultra light :)

You can catch a lot of fish if you know these factors! I catch a lot of fish, but not every time I come to a place can I catch fish. There are too many things to consider in order to be successful. Let me summarize fishing factors into these 6 categories based on my years of fishing experience. Please note that these are my personal preferences and you may have a different opinion. 1. Location and Resources: You need to find a place where fish exist, with good resources and considered a fertile fishery. This is the most important factor in my opinion. 2. Fishing Conditions: - Weather Conditions: Factors like air temperature, wind speed, barometric pressure, and precipitation can impact fish behavior. - Water Temperature: Different fish species have specific temperature preferences. - Water Clarity: The clarity of water can affect how well fish see bait or lures. 3. Time of Day: Fish are more active during certain times, such as early morning and late afternoon. Fish behavior can change based on the time of day, season, or breeding. 4. Bait Choice: Different fish species prefer live bait or artificial lures. The choice of bait depends on the situation and there are countless options available. 5. Gear and Equipment: While better equipment can enhance your experience and increase your chances of success, the brand name doesn't always guarantee more catches. 6. Fishing Method and Skill Level: Choosing the right technique, such as using a float or dropshot, trolling bait, or selecting the appropriate rigging style, plays a crucial role. Both experienced anglers and beginners can perform well in environments with active fish. Lastly, luck also plays a huge part in fishing success! During the hookset, you cannot predict where your hook will penetrate the fish. Factors like how the fish fights, potential snags underwater, gear failure, and other random occurrences are beyond your control. In my opinion 1 > 2 > 3 > 4 > 5 > 6. The existence of fish is the most crucial factor in fishing, while your skill level is of least importance. For instance, the crappie I caught in this pond may look impressive, but it took me six attempts to finally succeed. Out of those six times, I only caught fish twice, resulting in a skunk rate of 2:1 for me.
