Mary River

My workmate Craig fished the Mary River near Gympie and scored this nice Sooty Grunter. All Sooty Grunter from this catchment must be kept as they aren't native to the area.

My workmate Craig fished the Mary River near Gympie Queensland Australia and caught this nice Saratoga. Fish released.

Went for a bass session, no bass. But wow these sooties were tanks. Broken my Pb after 3 years very happy. Tight lines 🎣🎣🎣

Quick stop at the local producing some tank sooties, lost a 3rd I believe to be larger then these two 🤦‍♂️ Tight lines 🎣🎣🎣

I went for a fish in the Mary River with a mate in his purpose built little river tinnie. What a cool day exploring fishing and wading the river. We saw a few huge lung fish, a huge saratoga, and a platypus. The target for the day was sooty grunter, and I was keen, as I'd never caught one. It was looking grim as the day was getting on, and the action was very slow. As the shade started to appear over the snags, my float dropped, and bam, I was on. It was my first sooty, and it was a cracker. A few more snags and a swim later, I hooked another. Such a great fight in the timber with these fish. What a day, H$K DOWNUNDER BABY 🤙🎣💯
