Smallmouth yellowfish

Caught on a Garlic Float, Earthworm & Fluoro Backing Combo 💪🏻🎣

Although Reece wanted to come out, the cold in the morning wasn't for him and dulled his enthusiasm to actually fish. Nonetheless, I kept changing his lines out. Eventually, his line ripped off, and the energy levels were past 100%. But something was wrong,his line was stuck, but I wasn't going to allow him to lose this fish. So I stripped down to my undies and waded into the frigid waters. Low and behold, I got the line unstuck, and Reece managed to land this beautiful looking yellow.

Moments later, as I was still redoing my rig from the previous catch, my right line screamed off. Up and till then, I was using a single bottom hook Rietvlei rig with two small banana floaties and a soft banana dough backing and banana garlic spray on the ball. This line was cast as far as possible.

It was a very successful muddy morning on the banks of Oranjeville today. Loads of small yellow fish and grass graps coming to play after all the rain we recently had. Tons of fun catching a whole lot of these 🥳👌 Onto to the next one 🍀🎣🙏

I just want to wish my son a happy 12th birthday today! I hope he will have many, many more fishing trips and sessions with his old toppie!
