Catch#3of3 - Now since I have been able to land the previous carp, at that stage I only had 1 rod in the water, I started setting up a 2nd rod, as now the fishing bug seriously got me going again. After playing card games to about 10pm to allow time to pass, we eventually decided to go to bed, just as I zipped up the tent and got onto the stretcher, the alarm and reel started screaming. Not having decent lighting made the landing of this beauty extremely difficult, but eventually managed to land it. Unfortunately after rebaiting, at roughly 1am on 10 Oct, I had the next reel run, screaming and moving through the water like a steam train downhill with no breaks. While trying to get the fish under control, my 2nd hook I believe snagged onto some obstacles in the water from the severe weather previously. Leaving it for nearly 30minutes to see any movements, resulted in loosing the fish. Pity as I believed this could have surpassed my previous PB. Based on the results of the last night at Sionbergh Accommodation Heidelberg GP, irrespective of the bad weather, I will return and break my PB at this venue. Bait used: Whole sweetcorn mielies Boulyn Kolletjie Feed Champion Dips - BANLIC on the ball. I must admit, not having any other anglers on the shoreline for the last 2 nights saved my fishing trip, as the fish had no other choice but to feed on what I gave them. Cheers everybody and enjoy your next fishing trip.

Catch#2of3 - As mentioned from my previous post the weather started turning and so did my luck. On the 9th day, with no wind and the smoothest water surface that one could imagine, I eventually had a reel run. After a 10min struggle, I was able to land this beautiful mirror carp. My first ever mirror, so now my PB mirror.

Catch#1of3 - I had the opportunity to revisit the same camping ground and same stand number where I caught my PB 2 years ago, however the past 10 days from 1 to 10 October was no childsplay and an experience that I will not forget for a long time. From the 10 days we had howling winds for 7.5 days straight including 2 severe storms that created havoc under some of the other campers, forcing most of the shoreline campers to pack and go home earlier than expected. For the first 7.5 days I have only managed to land this "monster" of a bass, but as luck would have it the weather started turning for the better.

Sionbergh Accomodation - http://www.sionbergh.co.za/ Small camping facility with farm dam setup. Purely accidental, getting ready to go to bed when reel started running. This was my first fish in almost 10 to 15 years. I was so unprepared as I didn't even thought that this size would be in here I did not take my landing net on this particular trip so with fish ready to be landed, I needed to maneuver from stand number 3 to number 1 (luckily nobody occupied stand number 2) and ask a neighbor to assist in landing this one. I was so excited that after rebaiting I continued to fish untill 2am, but this was the only one for the night.
