Bucket list species! My goal for my trip out to western PA was to catch my first ever sauger and I finally got one in the final minutes. I was throwing live minnows all morning with a ton of success. I managed to land 5 species on them, two beautiful walleye, a white bass, three crappie, a rock bass, and some smallmouth. It wasn’t until I ran out of minnows that I decided to switch to a jerkbait and cast around for a few minutes, and on the second cast, I landed my first ever sauger! What a way to end an incredible trip fishing the Ohio River and its tributaries.
