Bishop Lake

A rain-soaked Saturday put my foul weather gear to the test, and it didn’t do so well except for the waterproof Hoka’s which kept my feet bone dry. Unlike my ironically named Ascend “Bone-Dry” rain jacket which failed after a few hours in the steady rain. Still managed to find a few. 👍

No donkeys but here’s the best of the bunch from today’s outing on Bishop where the bass were willing to crush a double-willow blade spinner bait in the bright sun. They would not hit it in open water. Had to cast into the Lilly pads, drag it through and wait for them to smack it. Highly recommend braid for this technique. At sunset they started blowing up the popper, which IMO still ranks up there as one of the all-time best top water baits. Tight lines!

Caught a Bullhead Catfish at Bishop Lake off the fishing pier.

Temps are rising and so are the fish. Looking forward to a great season on the water. Tight lines.

Got out for a quick evening session today. Ran into a few working the drop-offs with a Z-Man Graph Shad. 🍂🍁🎣
