Hit the water about 8:30 am. First 2 hours was pretty good. Managed a handful of cookie cutter LGM bass and 5 of these wipers. The wipers were all the same size. For those of you who have never experienced hooking into a wiper, you need to get on it. These fish are pound for pound the strongest fighting fish. As soon as you hook one, all you can do is hang on tight. They make several drag ripping runs. They fight twice their size. The rest of the day I struggled. I'd catch one here and there but couldn't get a pattern together. Yeah, I suck.

FINALLY! Spent the last month fishing the white bass run and this is my first bass fishing outing this year. I think my scale is off. This bass was long and had a huge head. Also caught a 10lb drum. That was disappointing and exciting at the same time. I thought I had a huge bass and then saw the drum 😑 but then was like, "Holy Sh*t! It's huge!".😲

Finally got out for a few!

Shallowed up. Would’ve killed then in a boat today.

Sunset bite produced, kept for dinner. White swim bait in the upper water column in the last 15 minutes before dark.

Fun Saturday down at Clinton to celebrate the end of the first week of the spring semester (I've got so many late assignments now lol). Rewarded for the long drive and dealing with high winds with a wiper on the first 5 casts. Forced to a less than ideal spot due to heavy crowds but the underspin with a white paddle tail still got it done. Slow retrieve in upper water collumn. Managed to pick up a couple more dinks as this school went through chasing some shad. Moved around a bit as the winds picked up and people began to leave and found another on a blade bait bombed into the wind, hit it as soon as it hit the water. Wind died down around mid afternoon and so did the wiper bite. Switched to crappie and caught tons of whites, blacks, and hybrids. Sunset decided to cast the underspin again and hooked up on 2 more back to back. These things hit hard and fight even harder. Good test of gear and great to feel something pull like that again. Great winter fishing and lots of fun. Only regret is absolutely screwing up my hookset on a probable blue cat takedown. Guess I'll be back...
