Recent Catches At Trenchford Reservoir

Luke Allansen
After spotting bait fish being chased out of the water and big swells to follow it wasn’t long before I started noticing some bigger fish chasing in my lures close..the first one which is now my new pike pb (8.2lb, 74cm) was a feisty specimen, and wouldn’t come in without a good scrap, it managed to throw the hook with a couple of awesome back flips! But I didn’t let it get away too far and persistence paid off, I managed to entice the beauty back again, making sure that this time the hook was well set right in the scissor…The second one at 6.8lb 66cm was caught on the last cast bonus of the session and also gave some pretty amazing acrobatic action…it was great to see both these stunning and healthy fish out hunting their prime prey, and from what I could see were shoals of roach and baby perch. It was like being part of Attenborough wildlife program with no one else around except you and nature, it was truly spectacular, and I’m looking forward to the next pike session on this incredible wild spot.
