#catch2025 ***NEW SPECIES ALERT*** HOLY MACKEREL! First ever saltwater fish to post (and my second saltwater species ever). It’s extremely rare to do saltwater fishing since Ontario is purely freshwater and I don’t normally fish outside of provinces (let alone, outside of the country). And here we are, just visit Nova Scotia for the very first time and… Damn… These Atlantic mackerels are so crazy they’re like full on predator missies in a full frenzy. Too many of them actually (which we caught 8 in total). They fight like pike too and too many keep attacking. I tried to even aim for flounders and even a possible striper, but these guys will attack anything on sight in less than 10 seconds. Locals may get tired of mackerels, but for me, as a freshwater angler visiting saltwater regions, this is a W and one of the rarest, craziest and best fishing days ever. Btw, all of which are caught on a shiny multicolored spoon (mainly silver) from Japan, but almost caught a 9th one on a Gulp Minnow on a jig for flounders and other species (but none after that).
