#catch25 Update: ***NEW PB ALERT*** Just woke up so early today to see if there are any crappies or even a carp active around the cottage dock. Turns out, while using a crappie rig with a trout magnet hook and a Berkeley Minnow Smelt (as well as a slide bobber, it seems that this aggressive hog of a 3lb largie from the same dock I caught the last two from yesterday. Somehow much bigger than the two pounder yesterday, and very likely a PB. Unlike the big largie yesterday, this one was released safely and returning. Likely the left dock beside my dock has something to do with their bedding or hunting grounds. Very likely the biggest bass yet. Catch some bluegills after that and no crappie and the carp honestly came too late. Overall, great morning and one way to end off the Scugog trip. Will be heading to St Lawrence of 1000 Islands next to seek any big smallies or something entire different. Stay tuned. Btw, Happy Belated Canada Everyone!

#catch25 Honestly the second (last) bass of Tuesday July 01 might be one of the biggest ones I caught. Caught two more basses from one neighbouring dock on the left at my friends’ cottage in Scugog. Compared to the day before, the fishing improved on size and the first was caught on a wacky rig (and released) while the last big one was caught on a Texas Rig (and my first successful attempt so far) but that guy was unfortunately cooked. The biggest of the two weighed in about 1.5 lbs (I think, maybe bigger). Although shorter attempt than the first attempt, the wind help and the better weather improved the fishing. Hopefully I can catch my first common carp in the morning for the final round since I been seeing them everywhere lately. Happy (late) Canada Day 🇨🇦 🍁 🎆

Despite the weather and the many weeds and how shallow it is, had a great time fishing and yes, caught two largies (with 1 first on a Gary Yamamoto Senko, and the last on a YUM Dinger), as well as a bluegill and an encounter with a common carp (again) and nearly snagged him at one point (the scales shown). It hits different going to a waterfront cottage (despite only visiting there by at friend) and having the time to yourself in peace and potentially landing some fish like bass. Hopefully tomorrow is better with larger bass as I may return there tomorrow. Great way to end June and otherwise a great warmup for the true adventure at St Lawrence River on the weekend.

🎣 Set the hook like it owed me money… Turned out to be this lil’ troublemaker. 💸😅

Sometimes you chase PB’s but other times you’re just relaxing and enjoying the cast and retrieve. #CatchKing

Nightcrawler didn’t even hit the bottom. Bluegill was already halfway through his appetizer. 🐛➡️🐟 #catchking
