Decided to go out right before the storm hit and for 15 minutes I had a blast! Nothing over a foot but those spunky smallmouth sure fight hard when using a spinning reel.

A small Rock Bass but I think they are one of the coolest looking freshwater fish. I’ve had saltwater aquariums for 15+ years and I’m obsessed with Groupers! I feel bad cuz they outgrow their aquarium so quickly even when I upgraded to a 220 gallon which I thought for sure would be large enough. Catching this Rock Bass makes me want to set up a freshwater aquarium using my old 90 gallon and add a baby Rock Bass. Be interesting to see if their behavior is similar to the Groupers I’ve had in the past. I added a few photos of the most recent grouper I had. It’s a Panther Grouper that was 2” when I got him. 14 months later he was 12” already!! That’s when I took him back to the pet store.
