Haven't had much time to fish recently due to doing Shakespeare in the Park this summer! Put in a picture from the article the Austin Statesman newspaper published. Had an hour to spare today and this was the biggest out of the dinks. Put up a surprisingly good fight!

BIGGEST OF THE YEAR! First off, have to shout out Macho Man Randy Bassturd as I got it on the Geecrack bellows gill, his recommendation. Bought some new shades and size, got these two in the neon gill colour. Unfortunately had to stop because of the storm but 4.4 my best this year, still optimistic I can beat 5 again!

GREAT DAY! I decided today was a learning kind of day and threw things I've never caught on. Started with the Heddon Spook. Last summer I threw them out with no luck whilst getting to grips with walking the dog technique. Finally getting it as I got a bunch on them today. Even outdid the Choppo and Plopper! Only topwater I used last year so great to have another option. My black jitterbug also collecting dust and neglected last year. Wasn't having much luck and it was getting dark. Last cast of the day this chunk smashes it next to the bank! Nothing like leaving the best til last and ending on a high note!

Dink kind of day (once again). Actually caught a bunch, probably 15+. Most of them on this new guy, the dark sleeper. Absolutely killed it! If a sunny bites though it's a nightmare to unhook! Also TOPWATER IS BACK IN TEXAS. Caught 4 on the choppo. Got one first cast. Happy it's the season.

Nothing too big today, was super windy which made things more difficult. Getting warmer the sunfish and bluegill bite is definitely on. Not usually my favourite thing to catch, but brought our the tube and light gear today. Had a lot of fun with them fighting. Hoping the topwater bite is on soon!

So it seems Macho Man Randy Bassturd gave me his good luck and bad luck. Can confirm the geecrack hype is real and getting bites and fish each cast. However, when I finally get one of the pond monsters on the line (which I haven't in a while at this location), my handle cracks and he gets off. So the rod is a write off 😂 in fishing and life, shit happens. Just have to persuade the wife to let me get the expensive upgrade...

Helped people get their first bass today! Great to catch my own but even better to see other people achieve something and start fishing! One guy kept insisting on one last cast 😂 that's when you know they'll be back! Amazing day off after working on a project. The more the merrier! 🎣

FINALLY beat 2 this spring. Nice to finally leave dink city. I was surprised as he didn't look that big and the 1.5 I caught earlier put up much more of a fight. Looks can be deceiving! Also came out with the aim to catch on something new and got the big one on the rage tail craw! Never really do well with creature baits so glad I got that one ticked off. A few I want to tick off then I feel I've beaten the beginner rank.
