North Pacific Ocean (Stewards Point-Fort Ross)

Back to the cove. Caught 36 fish if I counted correctly… Including my new PB lingcod of 33.5”. Didn’t get a weight on it, but it was seriously hefty! I believe it’s the biggest fish I’ve landed from a kayak yet, bigger than the 30” Lahontan cutthroat last summer. Caught another 18” vermillion, a bunch of black rockfish, a few gophers, a few blues, and a couple undersized ling. Fish tacos for the whole family at the Airbnb! #CatchKing

Epic day, caught around 40 fish. PB lingcod 26”. PB vermillion rock fish around 18”. Overall breakdown was approximately 20 black rock fish, 10 blues, 8 gophers, a couple lingcod (1 blue one!), and the vermillion. Kept 4 fish for the family’s dinner. Most of the morning was glassy (good conditions for my 10-foot non-ocean Walmart kayak), but the swell was about 4-5 feet with 10 second interval, so I was feeling that for awhile afterward. Such a beautiful area, and this section of Highway 1 is so iconic. It’s cool that Kastking is doing the giveaway for the Kapstan Elite 3000. I got the 4000 before this trip and was using it today. Also used it to reel in that 30 inch striper last week. So far it’s been a great reel! #CatchKing
