Caught on top water lure

Felt good to finally hit a pike again! Nabbed him about 10' from the kayak. Hook went through both lips and he took some damage to the top front lip but he'll be OK. I took care to let him catch his breath before swimming off again #catchking

I reeled in intermittently and it seemed to pull the bite better than a constant reel. Big jumps, and he kept fighting in the net.

Put up a good fight, as smallies do. He had some cool spotting, and definitely more green than bronze.

Wanted to test my daughter's rod for our Algonquin camping and fishing trip we have planned. Held up well! Line didn't snap and the drag seemed fine so I'm feeling good about her using this little rod to catch the smallies up north
