A few good size winter bass

I tried out a dam that I'd never fished before this afternoon. The target, Australian Bass. It started off slow, but after a while, I managed to find a heap of little spangled perch. These guys are so aggressive, as you can see they will smack a crankbait nearly half their size. After about half a dozen of these tiny tackers, I was back hunting bass. After sounding, casting, and trolling some rocky drop-offs with spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and a soft plastic with no luck, I decided to start heading back with a by now very toey 4½ year old. I really wanted to fish a snag i had passed earlier in the day but couldn't due to another angler already in the vicinity. With my little ones permission for the infamous "1 last cast," I had to make it count. So I threw a purple, pink, and loon spinner with a 4in Pink Gutz Squidgie paddle tail as a trailer right beside the snag and bang, I was on. A very nice 38cm Aussie Bass, and yes, that warranted a few more casts. Swapping to a loon and chartreuse spinner with a Daiwa BaitjunkieGreen Weenie Risky critter, I netted 2 more slightly smaller Aussie brawlers. All in all, it was a great afternoon, except for the Karen at the boatramp when we returned...... but that is another story. Let's just say I don't take to kindly to people not minding their own business and taking photos of me, my family, and my boat. If you got this far, get out there and get amongst it. You never know what throw's gonna get that line tight 🤙🎣💯

I took my youngest son out for a quick session this arvo. He landed this beauty. 43cm. So stoked for him what a legend.

Finally cracked the 40cm curse.
