The trout hit the lure just after it hit the water.

Fun fight with the 23.5" slot Red. Flood gate closed due to impending tropical weather. Incoming tide and light winds aided with water conditions. We tried popping corks (caught lady fish), then bottom with Carolina rig, but free-lining live shrimp did the trick. (Main 30lb braid tied to small barrel swivel, then onto 20-30lb leader material and a circle hook through horn of shrimp)

The red hit so softly I thought it was a flounder so I let it swim awhile before I set the hook. Felt good having a nice red bending my rod.

Last cast on an incoming tide into Moses Lake at the entrance to the flood gate.
