Huge bluegill around world record

My boys and I caught about 2-3 dozen sunfish, but this was the most surprising catch after every other fish was a bluegill.

Went fishing with my nephew today, and I caught 16 bluegills (1 not pictured). He caught about 10, so we definitely had a good time. The bass weren’t taking the blue/black chatterbait, so I stuck with ol trusty: worms and the Ugly Stick.

Caught several sunfish (some not pictured) and a bass. I spent quite a bit of time watching this bass harass a school of bluegills before baiting and catching it. It was also my first time landing redears.

After no luck bass fishing on crankbaits this morning at this location and another nearby, I switched to a light rig with worms and caught seven bluegills. I almost landed an eighth, but it spit the hook right on the edge of the pond during the retrieve. While I am always looking for that next pond monster, these bluegills keep me going home without getting skunked.
