Ty T. Lines At Mississippi River
17” LMB today and a 15” yesterday….otherwise just a bunch of sunnies.

Couple of bass, one with a hook and worm, one with a red whopper plopper topwater, among the 27 sunfish also caught. Fun day of fishing on the Mississippi.

Caught this 28” 11.8# cat on a medium fast rod. Same for the common carp (native to the area). Both good fighters, but the cat took 15-20 minutes to finally land.

The first fish of the night was a monster. It took my bait near shore, started stripping line, and I couldn’t move it at all. After a short fight with me pulling too hard too keep it out of the branches in the water the line broke above the bobber stop. We kept fishing the area only to notice the bobber swimming back and forth beneath the branches….mocking me. We kept trying to coax it out to no avail. We weren’t catching anything at that point, probably because a fish this size was in the area, so we moved….and it followed. The bobber was eventually seen headed toward deeper waters. After switching to top waters, I caught this in a whopper plopper, then we headed home to a fine sunset.

Six fish in 3 hours, starting with a small mouth and finished with a sauger with sunfish and sheepshead in between. I do like multi1species days.

The catfish messed on me, the walleye and bass were small, and the bass was very ambitious (that was a mouthful)

1st cast using a swim bait to an area that I would have never expected to have a walleye bite. Wish I could explain it, Sam, but I don’t catch a lot of walleye…in fact this is my personal best. Had another bite within 10 minutes that jumped off.….then crickets.
