Ethan Roberts At Casco Bay
I landed four new species on an amazing trip to coastal Maine! I gave myself a goal of catching four species for this trip, those being striped bass, pollock, mackerel, and cunner. I managed to check off three of these species and a bonus Atlantic herring! Majority of my time spent fishing was for stripers, however, I couldn’t manage to get a bite. I even ran into two guys that gifted me nearly $30 in striper lures. They were die hard striper anglers that must have had some sort of sponsorship because they pulled out a huge unopened box full of hundreds of z-man products. My only real success came right at the end of my trip, where I found a pier in downtown Portland that was loaded with fish. I knew sabiki rigs would work well and I spent hours the previous day looking for a place to get some. Thankfully the effort paid off because the pollock loved them. I was catching 6 fish at a time nearly every cast. I also got a few small cunner mixed in with the pollock. For the mackerel, I used pieces of mackerel after catching one on a diamond jig. In total I caught about a dozen mackerel, and too many pollock to count.

I'd say my first saltwater trip with my boat was a success. 2 new PBs back to back. 1st pic was just over 40" without the tail pinched. 2nd was a FAT 38" definitely weighed more than the other 1. The 40" was SUCH a fight an incredible experience!! Ended up with 3 last guy was in the keeper slot but all were released alive 🤙🎣🎣

Delayed start to my saltwater season due to a shoulder injury. Beautiful day with a couple schoolies and this little piggy cunner.
